Agra is synonymous with the Taj Mahal – the greatest monument to love in the world. However, the city of Agra is home to many more treasures from the Mughal Dynasty and the age old traditions of that era are still thriving here. It also served as the capital to many generations of Mughal kings.
If you are visiting Delhi in India for work, Agra is the perfect short escape to visit the India’s most famous symbol and experience the splendour and magnificence of the Mughal era.
Itinerary
Pick Up – 10 AM
Our representative will pick you up from your hotel. You will be travelling by road to Agra. The distance is about 215 kms which can be covered in about 4 hours.
At Agra, you will be staying at a heritage resort. (We will share hotel options with you to choose from based on your budget). Our representative will help you with the check in formalities and you can spend the rest of the day in leisure.
Mohabbat The Taj - In the evening, watch the play that recreates the iconic love story of Mumtaj Mahal and Emperor Shah Jahan and the creation of Taj Mahal.
Enjoy dinner at Sheroes Hangout, a restaurant run by survivors of acid attack. Listen to their inspiring stories as they fought against all odds and bounced back.
Taj Mahal - Experience the glory of Taj Mahal as the sun rises. Admire and soak in the beauty and brilliance of architecture, design and engineering of the Taj. Take a walk inside the Taj Mahal to see one of the world's most spectacular examples of Islamic art.
Kacchapura Village Heritage Walk – After breakfast, we will take a guided tour of the Kacchpura village. The walk will be conducted by villagers who have been trained as tour guides. You will get a chance to experience rich living traditions, the beautiful Sanji art and some of the ancient monuments of the Mughal period like Humanyun’s Mosque, Gyarah Sidi, which is a fascinating structure carved from a single stone at the edge of the River Yamuna as well as spectacular views of Taj Mahal.
Marble Workshop – Take a tour of a marble inlay workshop and see first-hand the art legacy that has lent beauty to Taj Mahal.
Agra Fort – Post lunch, we will visit the Agra Fort, a masterpiece of Mughal architecture and the seat of residence of the Mughal Emperors for over 200 years. Built in red sandstone, this UNESCO World Heritage site will give you a glimpse of what the royal court of the Mughal kings would have been like.
Spend the evening relaxing or shopping in the various Bazars of Agra famous for its Zardosi embroidery, leather goods and mirror work.
You can choose to return to Delhi post breakfast. Alternatively, you can continue your trip and visit some of the famous sites around Agra.
Fatehpur Sikri – is located at an hour’s drive from Agra and is yet another example of Mughal architectural and engineering genius. It was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in red sandstone and it is widely cited as the first planned city created by the Mughals. Your guide will show you the magnificent administrative, residential, and religious buildings comprising of palaces, public halls, mosques, and living areas for the court, the army and the servants of the king.
Bateshwar Temples – On the way to Chambal, stop at Bateshwar, a small village known for 101 Lord Shiva temples at the banks of the Yamuna River.
Stay at Mela Kothi Chambal – Enjoy a leisurely evening with a bonfire and farm to table culinary experience.
River Safari – Explore the calm waters of Chambal river by boat. The safari provides spectacular sightings of gharials & muggers (species of crocodiles), turtles basking in the sun, many migratory & resident birds flying in sorties and the Gangetic River Dolphins as they break the water surface.
Post the safari, return to Delhi.
